Terms & Conditions

Refunds for all our individual events are available if notice is given three business days prior by email or telephone, or one month prior to first session of our programmes. After this, a transfer to another event will be given. Cancellations on the same business day will not generally be eligible for a refund or transfer, however you may substitute someone to come in your place. In the case of exceptional circumstances let us know and we will consider a refund/transfer.

Join our book club series, designed for experienced non-executives, to discuss wide-ranging topics with relevance to business and board directors today. Our (usually) non-fiction series covers macro socio-economic issues that relate to the context businesses operate in, what impact they have and the responsibilities of organisations in today’s world.

Led by Shefaly Yogendra, a highly experienced portfolio NED herself, this series of three discussions will be an opportunity to consider the bigger issues facing today’s boards and businesses. In a small group of max. 15 members, you will come together across three sessions to develop your understanding of ideas raised in the books proposed.

The books selected for this book club series are:

First Session: Wednesday 26 February, 6pm to 7pm

Not the End of the World by Hannah Ritchie

Let’s start the new year with hope. We are all concerned about the climate change and this book shows us, with data, how we could worry about the right things including what outright falsehoods we need to challenge confidently, where things are not as bad as we might fear, and what actions we could take towards bettering our environment and sustainability.

Second Session: Wednesday 26 March, 6pm to 7pm

Judgement at Work by Andrew Likierman

As professionals invested in corporate governance, we are familiar with Andrew Likierman’s role and involvement with the Cadbury Committee in 1990, which proved foundational to the UK’s current approach to financial reporting and accountability. His long-awaited book on judgment and its building blocks only comes out in January 2025 so we will all read it together.

Third Session: Wednesday 30 April, 6pm to 7pm

Trust by Hernan Diaz

Our last meeting for this edition of the book club comes after the Easter break. A fictional book seems befitting. The quadriptych is about the roar, boom and crash of the 1920s. Reading it in the 2020s in tumultuous times for business and society and politics is sure to give each of us a very different view on what we read in the book.

Participants should come to each session having read the book. The price above is for all 3 sessions which take place on the above dates and times (books not included).
