This session will examine how misconceptions about corporate purpose lead to cultural and strategic challenges, explore its foundational role as defined in the UK Corporate Governance Code, and provide real-world examples of how a well-defined purpose drives transformative actions, growth, and resilience.
Attendees will gain insights into common shortcomings in the management of corporate purpose and practical strategies for enhancing its rigour and impact within their organisations, thus helping NEDs ask better questions.
The speaker for this event is Simon Clarkson. Simon has over 30 years of global experience in C-level operational and consulting roles, Simon has worked across FMCG, Financial Services, Technology, Media, and Telecommunications. His leadership at organisations like Invesco and Clear M&C Saatchi has deepened his expertise in corporate purpose, market strategy, and brand revitalisation.
Simon also serves as a research partner and guest lecturer on corporate purpose at Politecnico di Milano, educating future leaders on purpose-driven strategies for innovation and sustainability. As a Certified Non-Executive Director, Simon draws on his broad experience to help NEDs drive change, align stakeholders, and foster growth and resilience in diverse organisational settings.
Towards the end of the session we will leave time for attendees to ask questions and discuss their own situation under the Chatham House rule.
