Steering a public body is a huge responsibility but how does that change when the government takes the reins? This session will facilitate an in-depth discussion on how public sector NEDs interact with political decision-making, to what extent they can support or advise on direction and how to discharge your duties in the context of major reform.

We will be joined by Richard Meddings. Richard was Chair of NHS England until March this year and also served on the board of HM Treasury for seven years. In addition Richard has held multiple non-executive positions in major commercial firms including Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Legal & General, 3i, TSB & Jardine Lloyd Thompson; and also chaired the board of Hastings Opportunity Area and served as a trustee for Teach First.
This intimate event for our Public Sector Circle is a chance for experienced NEDs to hear from a highly experienced director in the field and share their own perspectives, under Chatham House rule.
During this event Richard will also share why he is passionate about serving on public sector boards and why they matter.
This event is open to Full Members and Directors Circle Members in our Public Sector Circle.
