Terms & Conditions

Refunds for all our individual events are available if notice is given three business days prior by email or telephone, or one month prior to first session of our programmes. After this, a transfer to another event will be given. Cancellations on the same business day will not generally be eligible for a refund or transfer, however you may substitute someone to come in your place. In the case of exceptional circumstances let us know and we will consider a refund/transfer.

Many still believe the boardroom is the preserve of accountants and lawyers. Whilst these skills remain important elements of strong governance, modern boards require non-executives with a wider range of professional expertise than ever.

At this session we will hear from two non-executives with marketing and tech backgrounds respectively on how they secured their board positions. They will explain the strategic relevance of their skills set, how they positioned themselves successfully for their board positions and any challenges faced along the way.

This will be an illuminating session for anyone with ‘non traditional’ board skills on how to demonstrate your value and engage at strategic level. It will also be a great chance to get tips and tricks on finding and securing board-level opportunities.

This is a one-hour virtual event, free to our Full members. There will be opportunity for Q&A and discussion in a supportive environment.

Speakers

Kirsten Achtelstetter

Kirsten is Founder of North Star Advisory and an award winning C-level Technology executive with a strong record of transformation and growth in FTSE 250 organisations and start-ups.

She set up North Star Advisory in 2022 to focus on and deepen her expertise in the areas that she feels are most impactful to organisations: how to make technology an enabler for the business, how to make an impact, develop great products and have fun in the process!

Kirsten is also currently serving as Chair at Caredig, a nonprofit registered social landlord (RSL) established in 1975 to meet the housing needs of families, older and more vulnerable people.

Mai Fenton

Mai is a Director of How And When, a marketing consultancy, and for the last 4 years was Chief Marketing Officer at Superscript, a customisable bespoke insurance company for small businesses. She was named a 2023 Revenue Marketing Ones to Watch, and a 2022 CMO to Watch.

In addition to her executive experience, Mai serves on the boards of both profit and not-for-profit organisations, as Non-Executive Director of an investment company (Henderson International Income Trust plc) and Board Trustee of a national charity supporting vulnerable youth (Dallaglio RugbyWorks).

This virtual event is free to Full and Directors’ Circle members. It will also include an opportunity for Q&A and sharing experience with other members of our network, under Chatham House rule.
