In an era where making sustainable decisions is not just a preference but a necessity, boards across various sectors face the challenge of incorporating environmental and social governance factors (ESG) into an already crowded agenda. Whilst there is an expectation for boards to provide strategic direction and oversight, approaches to ESG and sustainability oversight vary.
This event aims to provide a platform for non-executive directors and other senior leaders to dissect and discuss the evolution of boardroom strategies towards sustainability.
This session will explore:
Integrating sustainability: How are boards embedding sustainability discussions into their agendas? Are sustainability or ESG committees an effective way to manage these discussions or are there other structures that boards have adopted to drive the sustainability agenda? Are there any tensions between sustainability and other committees and how to overcome them?
An expert voice: Is there a specialist voice on sustainability present in the boardroom? We’ll discuss the importance of informed decision-making and incorporating expert opinions into sustainability strategies.
Sustainability in action: our panel will share stories of how their own boards have developed ESG initiatives and put them into action, unpacking the challenges and successes their boards have faced in managing best practices and innovative approaches.
Challenges for NEDs: Address the challenges in keeping abreast of sustainability developments and effectively challenging executives – how can NEDs be catalysts for change?
Our expert panel will help you move beyond theory into action. This session is dedicated to providing practical suggestions and strategies to implement sustainable practices at the board level effectively.
