Terms & Conditions

Refunds for all our individual events are available if notice is given three business days prior by email or telephone, or one month prior to first session of our programmes. After this, a transfer to another event will be given. Cancellations on the same business day will not generally be eligible for a refund or transfer, however you may substitute someone to come in your place. In the case of exceptional circumstances let us know and we will consider a refund/transfer.

This event is designed for those in a position to realistically target the more competitive board roles, which usually involves senior experience in large and/or complex organisations.

What are non-executive recruiters looking for in a board candidate? What do they want to know about you? And how does your ‘pitch’ really come across?

This hour-long session is a chance to connect informally with leading headhunters working to source quality, diverse candidates for listed boards and other large, complex organisations (we expect you will meet 2 headhunters at the session). You will gain a brief insight into their work and receive supportive feedback on your ‘elevator pitch’.

After an introduction, you will then meet the headhunters in a small group via Zoom’s breakout rooms functionality. You will have the chance to practise introducing yourself succinctly (1 minute maximum, please!) as a prospective or actual board member, and receive feedback and advice where applicable.

Who should attend this webinar?

This session is suited for those who are actively targeting senior, competitive non-executive roles and/or looking to expand their headhunter connections. It is a chance to make informal connections with the headhunters participating, but more importantly to refine how to present yourself in future to recruiters as a (prospective or actual) board member.

Our headhunter guests:

Holly Beeston, Douglas Jackson

Holly has over 10 years’ experience in the Executive Search and Recruitment space and leads the Search Practice for the Utilities sector at Douglas Jackson. Holly passionately supports businesses to identify, attract and retain diverse and impactful leaders working across C-Suite and Director / Board level appointments.

As a passionate diversity advocate, this permeates the relationships with her partners across the private, public and charitable sectors. Alongside search practices at Douglas Jackson, she volunteers with WUN (Women’s Utilities Network) supporting growth, creating a movement across the Utilities sector for women to join, stay and thrive in the sector.

Helene Usherwood, Partner, Anderson Quigley

With over 20 years’ headhunting experience Helene has appointed to senior roles within the arts, health, and education fields as well as central and local government. Joining Anderson Quigley in 2018, Helene has established and continues her work specialising in the appointment of executive and non-executive directors in the NHS covering acute, ambulance service, primary care, mental health, and regulatory bodies as well as national organisations and Royal Colleges.

In addition to her work with NHS Trusts, Helene established Anderson Quigley’s Board Practice, working across all sectors to appoint Chairs and Non-Executive Directors. She has developed excellent networks across the public and private sectors to encourage greater levels of diversity around the Boardroom table. As well as providing bespoke services, advice and guidance to her clients and candidates Helene is highly motivated to provide careers advice and guidance to individuals, especially to those who have not previously considered a non-executive opportunity before but whom have unique insights and skills to offer.
