Leadership Training

'Getting to the C-Suite'

It is more important than ever to invest in your potential as a leader.

Operating effectively at the top levels now requires more than just traditional skills.

Invest in top-quality, relevant leadership skills to equip you to deliver on your ‘bottom line’ as well as on the increasing expectations around diversity, flexible working, sustainability and more – all against the backdrop of ongoing instability – from Covid-19, Brexit, and the cost of living crisis. The pandemic’s impact has undermined progress on gender equality in the workplace – making it more vital than ever for senior female leaders to operate effectively and step up with confidence. Our Leadership training will support you to do just that.

WB Directors have run both in-house corporate leadership programmes, pop-up tailored leadership development modules and a C-Suite programme for our network members.

In addition to our C-Suite leadership development programme, we also run a skills-based ‘Steps to Success’ programme and board development programmes. More information here.

C-Suite Programme => It works! Over 70% of our alumnae go on to secure challenging new roles and/or NED positions.

Our Leadership Training is different because it is practical, results-orientated and values peer support from other senior leaders. It focuses on equipping you with the skills research shows are required to operate inclusively at the most senior levels. It will also build your ability and confidence to secure your next role – whether it is a step-up into the C-Suite, a stretch promotion or a move into the boardroom.

Plus our Leadership Training provides you with the language and frameworks to demonstrate at interview that you are both competent and confident as a senior leader.

Our Leadership Training comprises four individual modules delivered over 4 months in a cohort of just 20 senior professionals from a range of backgrounds.  If you are looking to enhance and fulfil your leadership potential, do consider joining one or all of these modules. The modules are:

  • Leading Effectively – Clarify the important differences between leading and managing and how to build inclusive cultures. Focus briefly on ethical behaviour and the vital role of influence;
  • Leading Strategically – Understand what strategy is and how to be more strategic. Examine the six essential skills of strategic leaders and get practical strategic tools that you can apply immediately;
  • Leading Change – Recognise why change agility is a preferred alternative to traditional approaches. Consider how to use an experimental approach to change in your own organisational context;
  • Leading Collaboratively – Consider the impact of fast-changing contexts for collaborative decision-making. Get tools to power-up problem-solving talk, with a special focus on disagreement;
  • Leading Purposefully – Identify what you truly want to achieve personally and professionally. Access the most up-to-date research on goal-setting success and apply it for yourself and with colleagues.

Developed and delivered by highly respected leadership experts at UGM, it draws on the latest thinking in management and leadership studies from globally renowned research centres. Julie Ashworth and Dr Malcolm McGregor of Broadreach Consulting deliver this programme in the UK, balancing this academic rigour with their practical experience operating at C-Suite level and, latterly, in coaching C-Suite leaders across multiple industries and territories.

Each individual module is highly practical. It contains tools and approaches that can be applied immediately in the workplace, supported by our ‘learning alerts’. There is also a focus on articulating your skills and experience in the language of leadership, which is critical for women and other under-represented groups to succeed at interview.

“Malcolm and Julie are professional, open and, above all else, extremely knowledgeable … I have learnt a lot.” Viji Viyakesparan, Bank of England
