We know many of our members are building their strategic skills through a board role alongside emerging as leaders in their executive careers. Our new Career Check-In sessions will share helpful strategies as you grow as a leader, whether you are in a non-executive role or not.
New for 2024 – we will be sharing insight & expertise from our leadership development experts at regular ‘Career Check-In’ events. These will be free to our Full members (including via a Corporate partnership) and accessible via our low-cost Digital Membership.
Our Career Check-Ins bring insights into overcoming challenges experienced by many leaders or those on the way there. They will give practical takeaways to help you meet and exceed the challenges of senior roles, covering topics such as:
- Leading authentically
- Getting heard in meetings
- Managing disagreement constructively
- How to build your network
These sessions are a must for ambitious professionals seeking to fulfil their potential and those expanding their skill set to thrive in demanding positions. While we bring a particular focus on advancement for women and other under-represented groups, our Career Check-Ins are universal, bringing high-quality leadership development expertise to a broad audience.
PLUS networking connections – Our members are also invited to regular networking sessions, virtually and in person. These are informal opportunities to discuss your career concerns with peers and/or make new connections. All are welcome at these diverse sessions, mixing board-level professionals with those building their careers in various sectors.
Our new Career Coffee Mornings provide the opportunity to connect with fellow members, exchange ideas, and share experiences in a casual setting.
About our Career Check-Ins
Dr Malcolm McGregor will lead our Career Check-In sessions through 2024. Drawing on his globally renowned expertise from UGM Consulting, his own research practice, and practical experience as a senior leader and coach of others, Malcolm will demonstrate simple yet effective techniques for leveling up leadership.

Malcolm’s background is in UK food retailing, where he worked for 10 years, before leaving to take up a role as an international leadership consultant that has spanned twenty-five years. Working across multiple sectors and diverse organisations, Malcolm specialises in executive coaching; team and Board facilitation and the design and delivery of leadership programmes.
Malcolm’s passion is helping individuals and teams deliver their maximum impact for both organisational and career success. As a result, he invests significant time in academic institutions to ensure the latest evidence-based research is used to inform his practice.
Malcolm has spent 10 years as an associate and Ambassador with WB Directors, delivering their flagship C-Suite leadership programme. He currently lives in Edinburgh and is a keen walker, swimmer and cyclist. In his spare time he enjoys his garden and being an active singer with the Gilbert and Sullivan chorus.
