Growth funds offer scaling business more than the financial investment – with most supporting them strategically through an ‘investor NED’ on the board.
The role of an investor NED is a very specific one, to optimise the chances of a firm’s success and secure the fund’s investment.
At this Directors Circle event, we will be joined by Cate Poulson, Head of the BGF Talent network.
BGF is a unique fund, set up in 2011 to address the chronic and longstanding shortage of funding available to Britain and Ireland’s small and mid-sized firms and to inspire a generation of entrepreneurs largely overlooked or insufficiently supported by the investment community.
Cate builds and supports their network of over 6000 independent non-executive directors, which they place on the boards of companies in their wide-ranging portfolio.
She will discuss
– BGF’s unique model and, having been there since the very early days, their journey to a balance sheet of £2.5bn;
– the qualities and experience which make for an effective investor NED ;
– the conflicts and rewards within the NED role and BGF’s approach to managing their portfolio
There will also be ample opportunity for members to share their experiences and join the discussion.
This event is included in our Directors’ Circle membership. Current Directors’ Circle members have received a calendar invitation already – if you haven’t, please get in touch with Julia via contact@womenonboards.co.uk
