Refunds for all our individual events are available if notice is given three business days prior by email or telephone, or one month prior to first session of our programmes. After this, a transfer to another event will be given. Cancellations on the same business day will not generally be eligible for a refund or transfer, however you may substitute someone to come in your place. In the case of exceptional circumstances let us know and we will consider a refund/transfer.

Come and have a drink with others in the network and our Women on Boards’ lead in Wales to meet, share your experiences and ask any questions you may have.

An in-person event in Cardiff, facilitated by Alison Thorne, Women on Boards’ lead in Wales. Alison will be joined on the evening by other inspirational speakers and there will also be ample opportunity for discussion and informal networking in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Wine and/or soft drinks and nibbles will be served.


Lead for Wales, Alison Thorne

Alison has developed a non-executive career and has just been appointed as Chair of National Dance Company Wales. Alison is also currently a Governor of Cardiff Metropolitan University; an Independent Panel Member of the Welsh Government’s Public Appointments service; and a Board Member of Sport Wales.

Until 2021, she was Chair of the leading equality charity Chwarae Teg and a trustee for six years. Alison previously held executive board and leadership positions at Otto UK, George at Asda, Mothercare, Lego Retail, and Kingfisher with B&Q. Following 2 years as a partner in a boutique executive search company, Alison set up ‘atconnect’ an executive search and people development company in 2010 which includes mentoring individuals at transition points in their careers.

Alison is based in Cardiff and is the Women on Boards Lead for Wales. She delivers Women on Boards’ CV Masterclass and our ‘Becoming an Effective Chair’ programme, as well as providing 1-on-1 Board CV reviews and mentoring across non-executive and executive careers.


Speakers

Helen Morgan

Helen Morgan FCCA, MBA (Finance Director: Character.com)

Helen is an experienced Finance and Non-Exec Director working in the retail sector for one of the UK’s largest character clothing companies.

She qualified as an accountant and became a fellow member of the ACCA in 2008.

Throughout her career, Helen has experience within a wide range of industries and sectors, including Retail, Telecommunications, Tech and Financials Services, and Charitable And Membership institutions.  All within a number of disciplines from F,P&A and Accounting; to that of Director and Senior/Non-executive positions.

She became a Non-Executive Director in 2020 and now sits on the board as a Trustee and Treasurer of Citizens Advice Bureau.  Then in 2022 she was elected to sit on Global Council for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), where she supports the interests of members worldwide.  More recently she has become a mentor on the career ready programme which is a social mobility charity that empowers young people ages 15-25 to access workplace opportunities and support them towards their future career opportunities.  

Kaye Law Fox

Kaye law Fox is Chair of Gloucestershire Managed Services, the wholly owned subsidiary estates, facilities and capital delivery company of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is also an Associate Non-Executive Director on the Trust Board.  She is Senior Independent Director of Barcud, a registered provider of social housing in Wales; and since 2003, she has been an independent board member for housing associations varying in size and complexity, and a sector skills body. She has chaired Boards of a social housing and care provider, a commercial asset management and development subsidiary company, operations, audit and risk, remuneration and professional standards committees, and numerous task and finish groups, including executive recruitment panels.

Kaye has over 20 years public sector executive and senior management experience. Skilled in designing and delivering complex national and regional change programmes in regulated sectors, she has worked for agencies of the Home Office, and for the London Ambulance Service, as well as in the private and charity sectors. Her expertise and interest are for right-sizing regulatory regimes, strategic governance and corporate systems of internal control and risk management.

Kaye has a first degree in management systems, and master’s degrees in health management and rural resource management.
